VOW establishes a strategic partnership for waste sorting robotics through agreement between its French subsidiary ETIA and Spanish company PICVISA

February 24th, 2020

The purpose of the partnership is to jointly develop robotics solutions for waste sorting onboard cruise ships as well as land applications.

The unique know-how of both companies will allow to jointly develop the solution that segregates a variety of waste on a conveyor or fixed surface, in a way resembling the method a human sorter would. The system will also learn and improve its accuracy over time (machine learning).

The challenges in management of industrial waste on land as well as onboard cruise ships are creating a great market opportunity for the development of waste sorting robots. Establishing the partnership between ETIA and PICVISA will allow to approach the operators of waste treatment centers as well as the cruise ships in order to help them in more efficient waste recycling on site.

“This agreement creates a unique opportunity for introducing new solutions for sustainable waste management in industries. ETIA via its subsidiary Ascodero is known for their strength in industrial robotics solutions in a broad section of industries (automotive, aircrafts and train). Together with the expertise of PICVISA in sensor-based sorting solutions and AI, we will be able to deliver tools to create immense value from waste by improving recycling in waste management”, says Olivier Lepez, CEO of ETIA SAS.

About Vow ASA. In Vow and our subsidiaries Scanship and ETIA we are passionate about preventing pollution. Our world leading solutions convert biomass and waste into valuable resources and generate clean energy for a wide range of industries.

Cruise ships on every ocean have Scanship technology inside which processes waste and purifies wastewater. Fish farmers are adopting similar solutions, and public utilities and industries use our solutions for sludge processing, waste management and biogas production on land.

Our ambitions go further than this. With our advanced technologies and solutions, we turn waste into biogenetic fuels to help decarbonize industry and convert plastic waste into fuel, clean energy and high-value pyro carbon.

Our solutions are scalable, standardized, patented and thoroughly documented, and our capability to deliver is well proven. They are key to end waste and stop pollution.
